OMG I'm a Uni Student!

So I've enrolled in a Diploma of Counselling through the Australian College of Applied Psychology and a Diploma of Life Coaching through Estrada College which are both online courses through 2 top Australian colleges. They both start in May. I'll have to do a lot of work placement, and submit videos of me doing sessions with "clients" for assessment. Guess my husband will be getting some free sessions hahaha.

I'm so excited about it! I can't wait to get stuck into it! 2 at once will be interesting!

My big plan is to do these 2 diploma courses, then enrol in a Bachelor course. Because I will have a diploma, it will knock 12 months of the BA so that will only take 2 years.

The Diploma of Counselling qualifications will mean I can be employed as a counselor, but won't be able to run my own private practice. However, the Diploma of Life Coaching does mean I can run a private practice as a Life Coach. So ... I'll style myself as a Life Coach, and help people who have gone through traumatic experiences to recharge their lives and set goals and set themselves up for success and happiness. At the same time, I could work a few days a week as a counselor somewhere and be studying for the Bachelor. Then once I've graduated, I will re-brand as a Counselor AND Life Coach.

I'll be able to offer my service through Brachial Plexus Australia via grants for those who need help but can't afford it, and also offer my services privately.

I am actually starting to see a new future for myself, and perhaps I'll even be able to financially support myself once again!

Maybe other professionals and government departments will take more notice of me too if I have a professional qualification to back me.

They say things happen for a reason ... while I wish I hadn't had that motorcycle accident, and wasn't living with a brachial plexus injury, I've been set on a whole new path, and I'm finally doing what I've always wanted to do - help other people. Ever since I spent 5 years working at a school for kids with autism, I've never really found job satisfaction when working for companies who are out to make money rather than provide necessary services and support.

And here I am now!
